We're gonna sit on top of the watertower and pretend we're Batman.

TWISTED HUNT FALL 2012

Once again, we’re all twisted.

This year’s Twisted Hunt theme is Darkness and since we’re dark all the time, this was a pretty easy theme to work with.  Here’s what we have for you- if you can find them.

As of this writing, we believe all the boxes are out (they’re all definitely out.)  and working properly. If they’re *not* working properly, someone *tell us*, because otherwise we have no way to know that.  We would much rather know sooner rather than later if there’s some kind of borked permissions or a box not selling correctly. It’s a lot easier to correct the earlier we know about it.

However, please don’t ask us for hints.  We won’t give them to you (really, we won’t.) and one or the other of us might not even know where the box IS at any given time (one of us might be asleep or something when it gets moved.)  The Twisted Assistants have the current hints. That’s all we can tell you, and it’s all we’re going to tell you. Really.

The Midnight Cavern from Urban Forge contains 3 floors (one is a hidden basement with a secret door), a bathing pool/shower with 3 adjustable animations and a fireplace. There are instructions on how to use all the features contained within the box(at least there should be- someone tell me if there isn’t one.) The cavern is copy/mod/notrans.

From Dare Designs, the Flight of Darkness dress is fully rigged mesh (you’ll need a mesh viewer to see it properly) and has a flock of ravens surrounding a midnight blue gown with a slit side.  It comes with 3 sizes and an alpha layer.

From The Fooding, the Darkness Decanter Set gives out glasses of wine on touch and features sparkling moon and stars on a midnight blue background.  The set is mesh, so you’ll need  a mesh capable viewer to see it properly.

From Dark 7, the Skeletal Hands bench, which is menu scripted and offers a variety of poses for you to enjoy.  The bench is mesh, so you’ll need a mesh capable viewer to see it properly, but it’s pretty low prim for something so complex looking.  Perfect for all your spooky outdoor builds for the season(or in our case, all year round.)

Happy Hunting, Twisted Folks!

World Goth Month Events: Reiterating/clarifying some important details.

The World Goth Fair and the WGD Nightstalker Hunt are two different events, with a bit of overlap.

The vendor acceptance rules for each are different.

Also, the WGD Nightstalker Hunt has *different* entrance requirements from Gothmas by Gaslight.  They are not the same.  Here’s some important points- they’re all contained within the FAQs but there’s been some confusion.

Regarding the WGD Nightstalker Hunt:

We are looking for gothshops. We’re looking for goth merchants.  This is, rather specifically, a goth hunt.  Though there’s plenty of fine and talented merchants from all over SL, we really are trying to promote GOTHS here, not “shops who sell normal stuff, but can put together something dark just for the hunt.”

To be clear:  This is a hunt by goths, for goths.

This is different than the requirements for Gothmas by Gaslight, and we will be sending regrets to people who submit applications that clearly aren’t falling under this umbrella. (we know sometimes very gothy people sell things other than gothy stuff- and that’s okay too, but we want either a goth merchant, a goth shop, or both.)

Because the last two GxG hunts had *many* people applying who were selling full perm textures or artwork that did not originate as their work (which added a significant workload to the organizers(us), I added this bit in the application as well:
SOME SPECIAL NOTES:

***IF YOU HAVE AN ART GALLERY***

If you, personally, did not create the artwork or photos in that gallery YOURSELF, do not apply to this hunt. We will not accept you.  If you grabbed it from the net, google, whatever, and messed with it in photoshop- do not apply to this hunt. We will not accept you.

It does not matter if you make “an original piece just for the hunt” if everything else in your store originated as someone else’s artwork. We will not take you. we are *Not interested* in work that is not completely created by the merchant.  Please, save your time and ours- we *really will not accept you* if you’re selling work that isn’t yours.

***IF YOU HAVE A TEXTURE STORE***

If you, personally, did not create the textures in that gallery YOURSELF, by your own hand/photo work, do not apply to this hunt. We will not accept you.  If you grabbed it from the net, filter forge, whatever, and messed with it in photoshop- do not apply to this hunt. We will not accept you.

It does not matter if you make “an original piece just for the hunt” if everything else in your store originated as someone else’s texture. We will not take you. we are *Not interested* in work that is not completely created by the merchant.  Please, save your time and ours- we *really will not accept you* if you’re selling work that isn’t yours.

***IF YOU HAVE A STORE THAT SELLS ANY ARTWORK/TEXTURES AT _ALL_***

Please read the above.  This rule applies to you also.

There will be *NO EXCEPTIONS* to this policy.

I mean it, gang.  There will be no exceptions.  This policy is now in effect for all hunts we run in the future. We are cutting this problem off at the pass- because it truly, truly has been a big problem with every hunt we’ve put on. We are simply not willing to knowingly allow work, particularly when it’s being sold full permission, to not have been wholly created by the merchant. It is simply unfair to the merchants of *every other product* who create their stuff from scratch.  We’re sorry- but we’re not going to do it.

Regarding World Goth Fair:

You do NOT need to have a gothshop to be in the fair.  However, and this is important, all the stuff you bring to the fair to sell must be gothy.  This allows us to accept a wide range of merchants who may have some gothy stuff, but generally sell to other demographics. As long as what you’re bringing with you is gothy? We’re happy to have you.  You don’t have to be a gothshop specifically.

We want to take everyone who wants to come and have fun with us- we just need to make sure everyone is applying to the right event.  I hate sending out rejection notices, honestly, and would much prefer to be sending out welcome packages.  So make sure you’re filling out the right application.  :)

The WGD Nightstalker Hunt May 1-31.

In cooperation with the lovely folks at World Goth Day, we are happy to bring this hunt to you.  To get your own application, head down to the clock tower at DE and click the poster.

Chapterhouse: Prize Post!

It’s just over 24 hours before the flood gates open and the hunt begins.  But I have a bunch more prize images to show you (and of course if I get any after the hunt begins I’ll just make another post.  It’s not like the helpfulness of prize images expires or anything.)

First up, we have this sexy and flirtatious outfit from Be Happy! (store #2) It’s red and green and hot all over, with a back laced bodice and adorable bow, you can be your own Gothmas present (or one for someone else, if you like.)

Morrhigan Outlander from Cracked! (store #23) has once again come up with something delightfully cracked, and presents this skeletal Gothmas sleigh. I admit, I really did laugh out loud when I saw this.  Looks like someone forgot to leave out the milks and cookies…

Twisted Cherry (store #49) has some frosty accessories for everyone this year! This Frozen Inside belly chain and belt will keep you cool and stylish all winter long.

I always look forward to seeing what comes out at Snowpaws (store #10) and this year it’s a winner once again.  This dress is called Ebon and is chic and elegant in black and grey. It’s perfect for being That Goth Girl when everyone around you is wearing brighter colors. It’s lovely.  Can’t wait to find it.

So, if you’ve checked the master list lately you’d know there’s a bonus store after 105.  I should explain.

Organizing a hunt, as you might imagine is a challenge.  Though fortunately Gothmas by Gaslight isn’t that hard to manage (though having a natural inclination toward organization sure helps) , there’s always a worry that someone is going to drop out at the last minute and you won’t have a replacement to fill the space. No one wants to have to drop stores, though sometimes it can’t be avoided and of course no one wants to have numbers missing from a hunt forcing people to go around.

Though we had (and actually still have) a waiting list for GxG, the first person who offered to jump in if we needed it was JD Silverspar of Pop Tart and Urban Assault (store #106).  Though I filled missing spaces from our waiting list, in the end, I couldn’t bear to leave him out since through the whole organizational process he’s been so helpful and supportive. So I added a SPECIAL! BONUS! STORE! at the end.

He didn’t disappoint, either.  He made terrific unisex boots. Not just one pair but TWO.  (one is a special bonus prize.  It made sense in his head at the time.)  So for the special bonus store prizes, there’s these Gothmas boots and STEAMGothmas boots for everyone to enjoy.

It seems like only yesterday that I was telling Corvi Ashdene of Curvasive Designs (store #5) that we’d like her to be in GxG last year. If I recall correctly her store was new then, and that was her first hunt. She was so excited and had such an infectious, wonderful energy, we were delighted to have her back once again this year.  Of course she’s created a wonderful prize as well.  In contrast to the previous sleigh in this post, this one has a more romantic bent.  It’s a Gothmas cuddle sleigh that will look perfect in all your holiday decorating (though I admit I laughed pretty hard at that snowman vignette in the background of this image. I don’t know where it came from but that’s funny.)  I can never have enough outdoor Gothmas decorations, and red is a very popular request on my sim, so I’m sure I’ll get plenty of use out of this!  Wonderful! Thank you Corvi, and of course we want you back next year. :)

Though it’s always terrific to have big, established stores in Gothmas by Gaslight, we really like to have a variety including new stores that just have wonderful things that really need to be seen by everyone.  That’s the case with Podlings! (store #24).  This store is brand new, and… well really you just have to see it.  Which, by the way will require that you have a  viewer that allows you to see mesh (because without it you’re going to completely miss out on how awesome this is, and I don’t want anyone to miss this.) Podlings! sells… tiny little alien mesh avatars, and little clothes for them.  No, really that’s it. It sounds simple, but they’re WONDERFUL and I love them. I giggle, and  giggle and giggle at them (and they dance, too!) and can’t get over how adorable they are.  I was so excited that the store was finished in time to join the hunt. I just want everyone to see these.

I’m told this prize includes the rigged mesh Zed avatar in a custom Gothmas skin, a mesh t-shirt with a custom Gothmas print, olive mesh pants in camo and a mesh Gothmas santa hat. Also, there’s tons of other compatible accessories available at the store.  I know you can’t really tell scale in this picture, but you’ll see. They’re small. (the hat. THE HAT. I can’t even.)

Speaking of old favorites though, Black Arts (store #18) is back, and Chimera666 Graves has once again provided something perfectly, wonderfully Goth.  Because you know, that’s what Black Arts does. This Arsenic Choker is the perfect accessory to wear not only at Gothmas but all year round. The web even has little red ornaments hanging from it. Isn’t that adorably creepy?

While I was napping this afternoon, I got this prize sent to me from WraithVenom(store #76).  It’s absolutely lovely- a gothy scripted music box with six songs to choose from.   It’s beautifully detailed and I plan on putting this one out in our house permanently. A wonderful prize, and I’m sure you’ll love it also.

Just before I started writing this post I got a breathless “m I too late to send a photo?” IM from Nikita Weymann of Grimalkin Workshop (store #96).  After being assured that of course it wasn’t too late and to send me a photo, I got this image of a wonderful, attachable desk.

If you’ve never had experience with Grimalkin’s attachable furniture before, let me explain. Instead of rezzing the furniture and leaving it there, all you have to do is wear it.  It has automatic poses built in, and it’s great for when you are someplace you can’t really rez things, or just want to take photos in a perfect setting without dropping prims on the ground. It’s a really nifty idea and I hope everyone likes this as much as I do.

Minxxy from A & S Designs (store #11) grabbed me just before I was ready to hit post and sent this wonderful image over of her prize. It’s a beautiful winter gown in true goth fashion.  It’s just so opulent and rich looking. I’m sure it will be a big hit for all those long winter nights.

My dear friend Tonya Souther from Tonya’s Restraint Works (store #62) has a solution for people wanting to give dolls this Gothmas. She suggests becoming one.  This (admittedly creepy) RLV enabled China Doll mask does… you know, I have no idea what it does. She told me (sadly in local) and I don’t have the text. But you know what, as soon as she comes online I’ll ask her to tell me again.  In any case. BDSM stuff. Also, things.

ETA: Info straight from the tigress’ mouth: “It’s an RLV mask. When you wear it, you can’t speak at all, and, with its associated HUD, your vision is restricted. Anyone else can blind you totally by touching it and closing the eyes. You also cannot remove it yourself, though anyone else can.”

The More You Know…

When I posted the last prize post, we still had two more prizes to make ourselves. Amazingly we were finished well ahead of schedule (no one was more shocked than us, believe me.)  So I have those to show you this time around.

From Dare Designs (store #1), Dare’s made a sexy and versatile gown called Gotham Nights.  For Gothmas by Gaslight there’s a special hunt edition only available for the hunt in green.  It features 7 pieces, including shoes, a bracelet and an anklet, as well as fur trim you can wear during the holidays and leave off to wear the rest of this eye catching gown all year round.

Because Dare whipped up those awesome snowflakes for GNI, I figured I’d take first crack at them for the Damned Good Design (store #105) prize. I had another lamp that I’d designed a while ago but hasn’t been released yet.  I decided that a more wintry version was in order which is how I came up with the Swirling Winter Lamp. I hope you like it.

Remember the hunt starts at midnight SLT.

Happy Hunting!

Bride of Prize Post!

I’m still getting prize photos, and so I’ve got another prize post for everyone.  It’s 5 days before the hunt and everyone is very busy putting the finishing touches on their prizes.  But I’ve got some to show you today, so let’s dig in.

From Something Wicked (store #87), there’s a creepy and romantic (or is it romantically creepy?) gothic garden.  It contains six animations for you to enjoy on those long, cold winter nights.  Also? Purple. You can’t go wrong with that.

More from the lovely folks at EVOLVING PIXELS (store #98). For that chic Gothmas tree I showed you earlier, they’ve got ornaments! Black and white ornaments to go with the tree.  Awesome!

From Brea’s Closet (store #20), there’s outfits for both men and women.  First up there’s this guy’s outfit called Merry F$%#in Christmas. Let’s face it, at some point that becomes everyone’s basic sentiment, so why not wear it on the outside?

For the ladies, this lovely gothic Christmas coat.  Isn’t this terrific? I can’t wait to find this one (I am a sucker for coats like this, I admit.) So pretty!:

I was so happy when this next store decided to join us again this year.  Galerie Octaviana (store #104), owned by Annie Octavia is so wonderful and creative. I am always happy to see what she comes up with.  This year, it’s a terrific green dress that will  make you absolutely feel a part of the season.  Oh Annie, you always make me smile.

Shadowed Luik of Dark Water Designs (store #16) has certainly outdone herself this year with both mens and womens formalwear for the season. You’ll certainly look chic and sexy in these offerings.  In Gothmas black and red, you will look spectacular at your next fancy party.  I’m definitely looking forward to this one also.

From Snow Bound (store #47), Snow Sweetwater has created this lovely Gaslight chaise.  It’s stuffed full with 11 single sits, 8 friend sits and 9 cuddle sits, so you’re sure to find a pose that’s right for you.  It has lovely flowing red curtains and its own gaslight, perfect for indoor or outdoor use.  Awesome!

EB Design (store #48) offers a wintertime cemetery (I was waiting for one of these…) Peaceful and snow covered, it comes with a gate that opens and closes on touch.  It’s a perfect backdrop to all your gothic winter scenes.

3 of our prizes are done also (2 more to go…)

From Dark 7 (store #74) there’s a dark and lovely cast iron fireplace, decorated for Gothmas.  It contains both a singles and couples pose, a Gothmas wreath and 2 wonderful stockings (one with a bat and the other with a spider) to celebrate your holiday a darker way.

From Girl Not Included(GNI) (store #89) there’s full perm snowflakes for everyone to use in their winter creations.  There’s 5 different flakes to choose from, so go nuts! Let’s see what you come up with!

Following our tradition of going all out for hunt prizes at Urban Forge Virtuatecture (store #51) this time is no exception.  We’ve always thought gingerbread houses were just a wee bit too cheerful, so here’s a gingerbread house for the rest of us:

That’s it for this prize roundup!  See you next time!

Rise of the Planet of the Prize Posts!

Prize post number 3, ahoy!

People just keep sending me images, and as promised, I’m happy to share them with you.

First, from the lovely folks at IMPALED/Dragon’s Flair (Store #84), we have two prizes (one from each.)

From IMPALED, there’s this wonderfully grim Gothmas Gift sack! It comes in both a carryable and a rezzable version, can play music, and best of all gives out one prize to each person who touches it. All you have to do is put the prizes in the bag.  Ingenious and wonderful for all those folks looking for an inventive way to give gifts out at stores and parties this year.

From Dragon’s Flair, we have a charming jewelry set containing a necklace and earrings in perfect Gothmas style and colors. This black and red set will go perfectly with your holiday gear and turn any outfit into the perfect Gothmas ensemble.

Of course, furniture lovers have by no means been forgotten on this hunt. This classic and elegant set comes from De Baza (Store #9) and contains 3 pieces to make your living room or store sitting area sparkle.  Each piece is richly styled and the cool white of the marble tabletop sparkles like snow next to the deep rich red of the sofa and loveseat.  Delightful.

I received two wonderful images from Violet Draesia of Indigo Oddities (Store #69), showing off clothing for both men and women in true Gothmas style, both in a rich, wintery green.  They are both full outfits.  The men’s selection is called Thanatos, and comes complete with monocle, cane and tophat(the sign of discerning and successful nogoodniks everywhere, of course.)

Isn’t that terrific? I can’t wait to find it myself!

For the more girlishly inclined, there’s Morana, which features stunning EGL style, also in the same deep, rich green. This is a complete outfit as well, and comes with shoes, 2 hooded capes and the bustle.  Certainly a wonderful and generous prize (and adorable, too!)

For all those still looking to deck the halls of their gloomy castles, there’s this cute idea from Shadow Moon (Store #44).  Who needs a mantle to hang stockings on when you have a spiderweb!  This one comes with two  stockings already attached- one for you and one for the spider. I suggest getting it a nice gift. :)    An inventive idea for sure, and a terrific new twist on the Gothmas theme.

What would a hunt be without shoes?  DemotiK (store #60) has two pair of shoes (ok, one is a pair of boots to be technical) to make your holiday fashions sparkle(darkly, of course.) .  Both mens and women’s styles are represented, in a classic black and silver color combination.  What’s more, they’re transferable- so you can keep a pair for yourself and give the other pair away as a gift for a loved one. Very thoughtful.

No winter holiday would be complete without jewelry, and there’s more jewelry to show you today!  From .:: Fabu! ::.  Jewelry & More! (store #19), there’s something for both the ladies and the gents, both in classic styles that are sure to please.

For the ladies, a Victorian cameo choker and earrings set.  Smoky black with a stark white cameo image, you’ll look elegant and lovely all year round, when you wear this set.

For the men, we have another classic offering, a Celtic knot signet ring in silver.  Simple, masculine, and stylish, it will always be in fashion no matter what the time of year.

Two more of our own prizes are ready tonight as well (only 5 to go… What? We have 10 days.)

From The Fooding (Store #37) we’re serving up a gothy ice carousel.  It seats five (three spiders,  and one couples sleigh) and has a delightful little ice bat on top *makes bat flappy motions here*.  Of course it rotates like any other carousel and is perfect for outdoor winter decorating.  It’s 49 prims, and copy/mod/notrans.

Virtual Alchemy always has two prizes. One is usually either a photopose or texture changing photoframe, and the other is always an actual image to hang on your wall.  All photos at VA are taken by me, and this one is no exception. This one is called Winter Through The Veil of Tears and was taken in NYC.  The name refers to the slight condensation on my lens at the time (I’d been out there a while in the middle of the snowstorm.) , and is a Gothmas by Gaslight exclusive. It will not be sold after the hunt.

That’s the roundup for tonight everyone! Remember, if I get more images, I will gladly post them. Sending me images is NOT a requirement of the hunt,  but if people send them to me? I’ll post them for you.

10 days to go!

Prize photos part 2! The Return of Prize Photos!

I have another set of to share with you all! They’re coming in so fast I had to make 2 posts in one day. :)

First up, from Lyrieal’s (store #52) – a prize for both women and men! Red and green Gothmas outfits with super cute skull details on the boots:

I especially like the snowflake details near the waist.  Very cute. :)     The outfit comes complete, as you can see, and so all you need to do is get dressed and go! There’s two tails options for the gents and 2 skirt options for the ladies here, for added versatility.

From Sredni Eel at Avatar Bizarre (store #12) , some more clothes for you to enjoy. Sredni’s provided both male (well, I’d hope so, he makes men’s clothing..) and female versions of this new outfit he’s called Amaranthus.  For the hunt, he’s painting Gothmas green- forest, to be exact:

I like the fluttery detail on the bottom of the open skirt, and I admit I enjoy wearing Sredni’s menswear just as much as anything else he makes. It’s always great stuff.

Apparently there’s 2 gifts in total from Poison Apple (Store #94), but I’ve gotten the first photo in of this truly gorgeous umbrella with holly details.  It’s very romantigoth, with a holiday twist.  Lovely.

Quite elegant, don’t you think?

For those of you skin junkies(and I know lots and lots of people are skin junkies),  the first skin of the hunt is in, from Titania Halasy at Whatz (store #32).  This pale and elegant skin will look great against all those dark outfits that winter prefers.  The name of the skin is called Vanitas, and I’m assuming the flowers aren’t included. :) ETA: No sooner did this post that I got an IM from Titania to tell me that in fact the flowers ARE included. FLOWERS FOR ALL!

Next up, a pair of prizes from [Moxie]( Store #70) , owned by Gothika’s own,  beloved Eden Malik.  First up she has adorable, wintry women’s Gothmas boots with black wreaths and super cute and teeny tiny little GxG bells as accents, in purple.

She also has a Gothmas tree! This one is a batty little tree, complete with two stockings- one for you…and one for the bat, sitting in its cage on the end there. I love seeing all the creative ideas people have for Gothmas trees and this one definitely deserves its own little spot outside Gothika. :)

From BagLady Design (Store #41) is this very pretty outfit that will see use all year long. It’s got a very lovely pink leaf print, and an intriguing mesh cutout section on the bodice as well, ensuring that you will look just as pretty in spring as you will right now in winter.

Oh, and I have one of our own prizes ready as well!  One of the prizes from Virtual Alchemy Photography (store #46)  is done(I’m hoping to have the other one done for the next prize post.) It’s a photopose setup I like to call “Try Not To Kill Yourself.”.  Anyone who’s ever tried to set up a tree juuuuust right will find this familiar:

But this isn’t an ordinary tree, and that ladder might have some problems.  Have a look at the detail of the base:

Yes, that’s a black cat under the ladder, and the tree is decorated with skulls and spiders and bats (oh my!). It is a Gothmas tree, after all.

That’s it for this prize post- I’m sure there will be more coming.

Gothmas by Gaslight Prize Photos!

Though we don’t require anyone to provide us with a prize photo, a number of merchants have sent them to me.  I’ve promised them all to add those photos to the blog, and I will also link them to each store’s listing on the master list.

Again, no one is required to give me a prize photo, but  if they do, I’ll post it here (and on the master list) for everyone to see.

From -=FORSAKEN=- (store #6), the perfect accessory for your front door. At least our front door, anyway (I love this!)

Isn’t this cute? I love the hanging bat in the middle.  Just perfect.  I can’t wait to find this one myself!

Next, we have this wonderfully creepy little hat from >>Demonkitties<< (store #85) (the image shows both the front and back sides)

It even has the option for particle snow via the use of a channel message!

Stacey Farspire at @->~ InSpired Designs ~<-@ (store #90) has been very busy! So far she’s handed me three wonderful prize photos I’m happy to share with all of you:

First, there’s a snazzy cane for the dapper Gothmas gentleman, complete with a raven topper and claw base.  The raven holds a snowflake in its mouth to usher in the winter season.

Second is a delightful ladies’ hat.  With a a blue veil the color of a winter’s night, it also contains the raven with a snowflake in its beak as a motif.

Because that isn’t enough gifty goodness, there’s one more she’s sent me- something for everyone- A perfectly gothy skull candle to light your winter nights.:

This next prize is actually the first picture I received, *weeks* ago.  Pipper Overland of PIPPER’S PLACE (store #73) was so fast to build this, I was completely amazed. But it’s SO adorable, I giggled and giggled.  It’s a perfect Gothmas tree topper.  The little angel of gloom:

From EVOLVING PIXELS, (store #98) I’ve gotten two wonderful and extremely elegant prize photos.  The first is a chic and stylish Gothmas tree (this is gorgeous!) :

The other is a set of unique and elegant gothy candy canes.  Very inventive!

I suspect these will be popular with the steampunk and victoriana loving folks as well!

For all you clothing lovers, you haven’t been forgotten! Wild Serenity (store #86) has a sexy and flirty offering for Gothmas by Gaslight this year:

With 2 skirt options and an elaborate bustier, you’ll look fantastic at all your holiday parties!

From ~Simply~ (store #25), we have a sparkly holiday gown sure to be a showstopper at your next formal night out:

It comes with an added, optional veil for an even more mysterious look.

Finally from Tuesday Blackheart at +Gothic Toys+ (store #79)  a creepier offering for this year’s Gothmas by Gaslight. She’s giving away a full lich avatar, so you can win contests as the Ghost of Gothmas Yet To Come.  It’s HUGE, btw (the photo is of me wearing it- believe me, it’s BIG.)  and comes with its own AO:

That’s all the prize photos I’ve got so far. I’ll link these to the master list and post more (including our own, of course) as I get them.  I think all these prizes are wonderful and inventive and I’m so pleased that people have worked so hard to come up with such great stuff! -AK

All Merchant Bell Packs have shipped!

All 105 little bundles of dark joy, containing the hunt boxes and other assorted accessories have gone out to their owners. As soon as everyone acknowledges receipt of their boxes, I shall post (and link) all the prize photos that have been given to me.

No one is required to take a prize photo, so I expect the list to be hit or miss on that, but whatever I get, I will be happy to share with everyone. :)

The 2011 Gothmas by Gaslight Master List is up!

The Master List for this year’s Gothmas by Gaslight hunt is up.  As always, it is a dynamic work in progress and will change many times a day to give hunters and merchants (and us) the most up to date information possible.

I am still getting in applications.  Although we are full right now, I am holding them in case of last minute openings.  I am aware that people have other stuff to do, so if I ask and you’ve already booked your time, I completely understand. I just want people to know Im not throwing their apps out just because we’re full.

There are still a handful of stores without posters out. Please, please, merchants- get your posters up. I do poster checks at least once a day, sometimes more than once, to try and clear that list.  We ask that posters be up at this point as there is a month to go before the hunt begins.  If you have not received a poster pack and are on that list, just ask me, and I will resend it to you. I resent everyone still on the list a poster pack yesterday, as several people had theirs eaten in offlines.

We are (very) aware of the missing SLurl for Dark7.  It’s one of our stores. It will go up asap.

If you are on that list and have not gotten an invite to the merchants group, IM me, and tell me. I will fix it.  I will be doing a group check as soon as the posters are all up.

For everyone else: That’s the current list.  I will be adding info, prize photos (when I get them- they are NOT required of anyone, but if I get them I will gladly post them for everyone), and other such wonderments.  As a reminder, there are no official hints, and there is no group for hunters. That master list is your absolute key to know what’s going on at all times, so keep your eye on it.

-AK(and DM by proxy)

GxG2 update #6: WE ARE FULL.

I just sent out the last of the merchant acceptance packages.  No more applications will be taken.  We are FULL for 2011.

We capped out at 102 stores.  The master list will be published as soon as I can play with the random number generator.  If you got an invite to the merchant group but no box of posters, or a box of posters but no invite, please let me or Dare know and we can fix either condition.

We welcome this year’s crop of lunatics.

(EDIT: correction. 105 stores. I didn’t count correcctly.)

Let’s get to work.

GxG2 update #5

Still moving along.  We are at 79% capacity.  Considering we’ve only had applications open for 10 days I figure that’s going along at a fair clip, so if you were planning on putting an application in, soon would be good- we will firmly cap the hunt at 100 stores.

GxG2 Update #4

60 stores are now confirmed, and there’s more applications to review tonight.

A few things-

There’s only 6 questions on the application. You really do have to answer all six.  If this number is too much for you, we’re the wrong hunt for you to be in.

This has come up again this year- you do not need to own a gothshop to participate. Your PRIZE must be in theme.  However, your store must sell quality original items only.  No resellers. No affiliates. No BIAB.

In the case of art galleries/sellers, let me be crystal clear:  If you didn’t paint that picture/take that photo/make that sculpture I’m going to say no.  I own an art gallery in SL.  Every photo in it was taken by me, with my personal camera.  Not a single image was ripped off the net and filtered in photoshop and thrown on the wall.  I own the copyright on every single image for sale in the store.

If you can’t say the same thing, please, save us both the time- don’t apply. I will either deny the application outright,  I will wind up either having to ask you if you did all the artwork yourself(and then deny the application when you tell me no), or I will find out about it later, and if that happens I will *punt the store* from the hunt with prejudice.

I have been a professional, working artist/designer my entire adult life.  I find the sheer volume of stolen art in SL personally offensive.  I don’t even mean fan art using someone’s IP. That, I at least understand.  No, I mean direct rips of images off the net, with (maybe) a few passes with a cheap filter and throwing it on the wall for sale.  I will NOT approve places like this, and if one sneaks by me I PROMISE you, if I find out about it, the store will be gone in under a minute.

If you sell stolen art, do not apply to GxG.  Period.

GxG2 Update #3

More vendor acceptance packages have gone out.  Currently we are at 46 stores out of a possible 100.

There is one outstanding application to be reviewed as of right now(I just sent out about 15 packages) and two notecards that I need to send as well. Looks like we will likely hit half capacity within the first week.  Yay. :)

I’m all for filling up quickly so I can post the master list that much sooner, since that takes me a while to write up.

So get your applications in!

GxG2 update #2

As promised, the first 25 vendor acceptance packages have been sent.  We have about 15 applications we are currently processing, and another batch of packages will be going out in the next day or so.

As expected, the slots are filling up rapidly- 25% are definitely gone, so get your application in ASAP.

Also, please be sure to put your NAME and store in the title of the notecard. We aren’t kidding- if it doesn’t have a name on it we’re tossing it.

There’s very few questions in the application. Please take the time to answer all of them- incomplete applications will be kicked back for more info and that just wastes your time and ours.

Oh and one last thing- we went through this last year but it needs to be repeated.  We are looking for ORIGINAL stuff only. Not just your gift. Your STORE.  If you sell textures but you’ve ripped them from a google search? We’re going to say no.

If you sell artwork ripped off the net/DA/etc. and you didn’t personally create it? We’re going to say no.  (Of course if you’re using your OWN art that’s featured on DA or whatever, that’s fine.)

Onward…

GxG2: Update #1

The first batch of GxG2 Merchant Acceptance packages will be released into the wild at some point before the end of Tuesday October 18.  25 packages will go out in this batch containing hunt posters and info, along with merchant group invites.

We have received 35 applications as of this writing and have been reviewing 10 stores a night.  As previously mentioned, there is a firm cap of 100 stores for the hunt, so get your application in ASAP, as 35 in 48 hours means it’s going at a fair clip.

Winter comes…. again.

Guess what’s coming, freakywinkles…

(don’t click there for anything- that’s just a copy of the inworld poster.)

The floodgates are opening.  The cap is 100 stores.  Applications are going out. If you want one, IM either Axi Kurmin or Dare Munro.

Ready, set, GOTH.

Oh is it March again? Welcome to Spring Hunt Season.

Between spring hunt season and the RedZone controversy, I haven’t been able to get here. I’m still stuck dealing with the RZ issue, but we did manage to get all the spring hunt prizes out.  All 11 of them.  Don’t even ask.

But we know people love to know what the prizes are, especially on these long , difficult hunts- so here we go.

For the first time, we’re participating in the STEAM hunt.  We hadn’t previously because neither of us do brown(though Dare can pull brown off nicely, I… I have brown trauma.  It’s just one of those things. Damned Good Design and Dare Designs are participating in STEAM IV which starts March 1 and goes through March 31:

This bathtub contains the same script engine as the bathtubs that are for sale at DGD.  The little gears move on the water pumps as well.  This prize ***WILL NOT*** be sold or given away once the hunt ends- if you want it, come get it now.  It’s no mod/copy/no trans.

Over at Dare Designs we have Airship Raider, which comes with all parts shown, including the boots, belt, and hat.  It’s versatile enough to go out dancing, and invade someone’s airship later.

Next we have the Roleplay Hunt.  Dare Designs is participating in this one, and the hunt starts March 1 and ends on March 31.  All you fantasy roleplayers should have a lot of fun with this one:

The outfit is called Cryphunter and should be perfect for all of your dark fantasy, chainmaille wearing needs. It includes everything (other than me) you see in the poster.  (Girl not included- see how we got that name now?)

Ah yes, the Big One.  It’s time once again for TWISTED HUNT.  (I haven’t even finished unpacking the last one, so help me.)  This time the theme is Nevermore.  All six stores are participating with seven prizes in total (the two VA prizes are in one box.) Twisted Hunt starts on March 1 and ends on March 31. Good luck, gang.

Dare Designs is once again a sponsor of the Twisted Hunt, and this time, the prize is Bloodraven.  It’s a Victorian Gothic outfit in blood red (just like the boxes) and comes with everything shown, including the hat, sunglasses and boots (but not me.)  You can even wear it to hunt the Steam hunt later!!

From The Fooding, we have the Victorian Poet’s Inspiration Tray. It comes complete with pen and ink, laudanum, opium and absinthe, and gives out glasses of absinthe when touched, all on a delightful silver tray.

From Girl Not Included, we have The Raven, sitting on the bust of Pallas.  As always, GNI prizes are full perm, so you can go nuts with this and even sell your own creations later.

There are two prizes at Virtual Alchemy(but both are in the same box.)  The photo, called The Bleak December, contains a quote from The Raven at the bottom. The photo itself was taken by me- it’s not grabbed randomly off the internet and played with in pshop and laughably called “original artwork”.  The second prize is the Nevermore Graveside Marker.  The photo in the headstone can be replaced with any photo you like.  It includes the pose, which you can adjust for positioning if you need to do that.   Both prizes are copy/mod/no transfer and both will  ***ONLY*** be available during  Twisted Hunt. They will not be sold or given away after the hunt is over.

At Damned Good Design SL, there’s The Raven’s Writing Desk, an 1830′s style writing desk and chair with a raven backsplat and motif on the writing surface. The chair contains a sitting pose, and the set is copiable.  It is exclusive to Twisted Hunt and will not be sold or given away once the hunt is over.

Finally, we have (as always) the granddaddy of them all. I always save the UF prizes for last, with good reason.

DONT REZ THIS IN YOUR HOUSE.  SERIOUSLY.  NOT KIDDING.

This is a full size two story house with a usable third floor tower/attic  and a greenhouse in the back corner.  It contains two fireplaces and front and rear entrances, as well  as a master  bedroom balcony.  It is both modifiable (so you can mod it to your heart’s content) and copiable (for when you screw up modding it to your heart’s content.)  It isn’t transferable.  THIS version will ONLY be given away for Twisted Hunt. It will not be sold later. We are planning to release a darker version of this (Even Gothier.) and a Steam version as well (different color palette.) but they will not be available until the hunt is over.

As always: We expect you to hunt for all prizes. All prizes will be MOVED often, and hints changed.  If we find out about people giving away hunt locations in local chat, or hunt groups, we will not hesitate to kick/ban.  Stores have been modified to fool primfinders. We spent a LOT of time making these- we expect you to actually look for them.

Other than that? Go nuts, and happy hunting!

Gothmas by Gaslight Wrap Party

Thirty days of hunting madness comes to an end with teh official wrap-up party for the First Annual Gothmas by Gaslight Hunt.
It’s been a great month and we have enjoyed working with all the vendors who joined us for this hunt – the people were great and the prizes were wonderful – and now we have a wrap-up event to cap it all off in style. Damned Good Design and Dare Designs are sponsoring DJ Lokii Violet for two hours of gothic goodness, with a ‘Best in Winter Goth’ contest (1000L on each contest board, which goes up as more people join in), an all new random prize raffle, a beautiful limited edition dress from Dare Designs, hot Gothika dancers, and more.

See you there. – DM

Rules! They mean things!

Below are the exact, unedited contents of the application that went along with Gothmas by Gaslight.  The color change is done by me for emphasis.

Hi there, and thanks for your interest in the 2010 Gothmas By Gaslight hunt.  This notecard serves both as an application for content creators and a FAQ, so please read it carefully.  There are three parts to this notecard. Make sure you read them all.

Please return all completed applications to either Axi Kurmin or Dare Munro(or both, what the hell- it can’t hurt.) We’re sorry, but incomplete applications will be rejected by default. Applications must be received by midnight SLT on November 30 2010.  No applications will be considered past that time.

————
I.  The FAQ

1. What is Gothmas by Gaslight and when will it take place?

Gothmas by Gaslight is a gridwide hunt to be held during the winter holiday season.   It will start on December 15 2010 and end on January 15. 2011 .

2.  Does it have a theme?

Of course it has a theme- don’t be silly. Don’t all hunts have a theme?  In this case, the theme is a more darkly beautiful holiday season.  We’re looking for romantic gothic, dieselgoth, dieselpunk, victorian goth and steamgoth folks.  (Why not steampunk? We don’t do brown.)  We’re not looking for blood, gore and horror.- there’s other hunts for that and they do it very well.

3. What is your vendor acceptance policy?
No resellers. No business in a box.  All content must be original. We are looking to promote content creators, not resellers.  We would prefer that vendors offer things that are original to the hunt (what you do with them afterwards is your call, but we don’t want anything given away in the hunt that is already on sale.)  We expect that your hunt prize will be in keeping with the kinds of things you create.  We expect you to honor the theme and mood of our hunt, so if your plans are to give away a t-shirt and ripped jeans, we’re going to tell you to try again next year.  Finally, we want you to give away something of value- in short, no crappy prizes.

4.  Will there be hints/a blog/a group/a whatever.
We have a group for the hunts we organize already that we’ll use for vendors- to give out information, etc.  We have no plans for a group for hunters.  You are welcome to give out hints in your location for your prize. However there will be no official hints given, no hint blog.  They’re on their own.  We will print a list of all stores in order on the web so people can start/skip as they need to.

5. What about signs, promotions, etc.?
You will be required to display the hunt sign (so people know for sure you’re actually participating.)  There will be an opening and closing event as well.

6. What does the hunt box look like?
Early reports are that it will be a holiday bell, but that is still subject to change.

7. Where can I hide my hunt prize?
30 meters from the landing point to your store.  We know that some people cannot control their landing points.  If you’re stuck in that situation but still want to participate, please come talk to us- we will do what we can to help you.  You cannot fully bury your hunt prize in another prim.  Part of it at least must be visible.  You cannot retexture the hunt box, nor can you resize it.  You must keep it the same size, shape, colors and texture it is when it’s given to you.

8.  How many applications will you accept?
Depends on how many we receive.

9.  I am on an adult sim, is that okay?
Yes.  Hunters can either age verify, or cope.

10.  How will you determine the order of the hunt?
Other than the first and last locations, by random number generator. Seriously- that’s how we do it.

11. Who is organizing the hunt?
Dare Munro of Dare Designs and Axi Kurmin of Damned Good Design SL.

12. Why is the hunt starting in the middle of the month?
Because a lot of hunts already start on the first.  Those hunters will mostly be done with those hunts by the 15th.  Also, hunts that start on the 1st generally end on the last day of the month- in this case, that’s New Year’s Eve. We know people are already plenty busy on NYE, and the last thing they need to care about is picking up a hunt box because the hunt is over.

13. How will I know if I’ve been accepted to Gothmas by Gaslight?
We will come visit your store and check you out. If we accept you, we’ll tell you, and send you an invite to join the crossover hunt group. :) if all else fails, the final list of vendors will be up on the web no later than December 2.  Yes, we know group space is at a premium. But this is the fastest way we have to get information out to everyone.  You really, really do have to join the group.

———————————————————

These rules are VERY clear, and we can, will, and will continue to enforce them.  Case closed.

Gothmas by Gaslight – Six Times over…

(Since I had to make the logo version of the sign anyway… figured I’d use it…)

Yes – SIX times over, for us anyway (and I’m not even an elf, but she is…) – six stores, six prizes, we’ve been working our pointy little ears off over here in the workshop… yeah, okay, enough with the holiday imagery already… on to the prizes…

For Urban Forge, Axi designed a lovely little one-room winter cottage, which we then shoe-horned into a snow-globe…

From Girl Not Included – a set of full perm lantern sculpts, useful for all manner of things, really…

From The Fooding – a full silver tea service that gives out cups of tea with drinking animations…

From Dare Designs – a collaborative design effort (she made a sketch, waved her hands over, and *poof* clothing appeared like magic) – ‘Gothic Gaslight’ in winter ashes grey…

From Virtual Alchemy Photography there’s this cute ‘Gothmas Kiss’ photopose offering…

and from Damned Good Design, a brand new seasonal (but not festive) sleigh bed design (with a full bed menu, no less).

That’s the whole array, six stores, six prizes, all new and out there somewhere hiding in those pesky little bells. (…the bells, the BELLS!! …)

Happy hunting – DM

A note for Gothmas by Gaslight MERCHANTS

As of now, all the boxes containing the hunt bells and additional info have been sent. If you haven’t gotten yours- before IMing me, please check your objects folder for GxG Box o Bells.  If you STILL can’t find it, then ask me and I’ll send you over another one.

Please make sure your hunt posters are up and easily found so hunters know they’re in the right place. :)

Thanks!

The Kickoff Event for Gothmas By Gaslight

The list has been published,

We’ve checked it twice

We don’t really care

If you’re naughty or nice.

The Club Gothika Mobile Unit will be bringing the holiday… well bringing the holiday something, anyway.  We’ve got a holiday masked ball to start the hunt off right.   The contest is Best in Gothmas.  There will be$1000L to start on each board and as always that prize money only goes up with each page we flip.  There will be prizes and a tombola and the gatcha machine too.  So come on down and join us on the 15th!

The 12 Days of Deathmass.

Because just creating six items for Twisted Krissmuss and another seven for Gothmas by Gaslight wasn’t enough…

Midnight marks the start of the 12 days of Deathmass.

Well okay, in this case it’s a month of Deathmass.  But we’re not going to quibble.

Yes the very, very creepy people at Yellow Jester have concocted another Tainted Hunt. This one has a gruesome holiday twist.  We truly didn’t have the time to whip up another 6 prizes (we’re also in the middle of a massive sim move/reconstruction) but didn’t want to miss out on the festivities, so we put in one store and created a terrific prize.

The Fooding is #5 on the hunt hit parade.  You’re looking for a small, white box (as conveniently seen in the hunt poster above.)  The hunt STARTS at Yellow Jester.  They may be creepy down there, but they’re nicer than we are(yeah I know, that’s not a difficult prospect.) . They have hints for their hunts. I’d post ours here  but frankly, then I have to come back and keep updating the post every time we move the thing, so I won’t bother.

Happy hunting, people.  The blame for the hunt prize is mine, though I admit, Dare took it a bit farther than I’d planned…

-AK

P.S.: No, we’re still not giving out hints for Gothmas by Gaslight. Forget it.
